There is a complex set of rules and regulations regarding the Employment of Children and the Law, which need to be carefully translated.
All performances require a licence, this has to be obtained from the Local Education Authority.
A licence application has to be filled in, and returned together with other personal documentation, approval letters from Head teachers, and Doctor.
A chaperone who has been CRB cleared and approved by the LEA must be appointed.
Company/Stage Managers must be made aware of the times that the children are allowed to work, and what is needed in terms of provision re. dressing rooms etc.
LEA’s have the power to stop a child from performing if they feel that the rules are not being followed to the letter.
